The lumps that were removed were indeed cancerous tumors. But the good news is that the type is rare, and unlikely to spread. It is likely to reoccur though. The vet told Mom that some cancer is so aggressive that it is already reoccuring before the stitches are out. At least that isn't happening yet.
After we left the vet Mom bought me my own small french fry from McD's. Some good came from it.

Oh man, Max ... that's a total bummer! I hope that you don't have to keep going to get lumps cut off - we'd have to change your name to Frankie cuz of all the scars! I'll be crossing my paws that you don't get any more!
Oh Max--Sorry to hear that. It is good that it's not the spreading kind. Eat lots of snacks, I hear that helps!
wally.
Ah, Max, remember your name - you are valiant! Courageous! Not to mention handsome! We think good dog thoughts for you.
Eat well,
Tansy
Max my pal - I am so sorry! If there is some good from this is that it's not the spreading kind. Thank goodness for that.
You hang in there big guy!
Sorry to hear the news. I hope you don't have any more.
Oh no Max.. Sorry to hear about that. But you're a brave and stong doggie. So hang on there and I wish you a speedy recovery

Hey sweet Maxie - sad to hear your news, but on the bright side, that is exactly the same prognosis that I got when I had my big lump out last june. Mine reocurred in the same same spot really quickly BUT it has hardly grown since it came back - we are monitoring it with our vet and if it gets over a certain size, we will get it taken out again. Of all the bad news we could have got - this was probably the most relieving - if you know what I mean.
Love
Opy
hey Max, get well ya.
