Thanks...

Thanks for all the kind words about Wookie's passing. We all miss him a lot. It is kinda funny how a little Wookie can leave such a huge space in our hearts.
Well, Sophie finally left this week. It is sad and it is a relief. Mom said she had a hard time with it because Sophie trusted her. But Sophie will have a better chance of getting a home if she is at the kennel.
Here is the latest addition to our house. This is Miles the puppy. He is annoying.

Not quite as annoying as this character though! (aka Nicky the Noodle)

Sad News indeed

Well our little brother Wookie passed away last weekend. I haven't had much energy to blog about it. We all miss him a lot. He was 17 years old and had been with us for 3 years. Frankly, Mom was surprised he stayed so long. My little human brothers were gone for the weekend so they didn't get to say goodbye, but they were rolling down the car windows in the dark and yelling it out to the trees, "We love you Wookie!" "We miss you Wookie!"

Now Mom is going to be sending Sophie back to the rescue because she bit Mom twice last weekend. She wasn't trying to bit Mom, she was trying to get Duncan.

Duncan has had it very rough recently. Nicky has been really going after him. Nicky has gotten a little better, but he did it again today. Mom was ticked and Nicky had to stay in his crate all afternoon.

Mom pulled another Sheltie senior from the local shelter. His name was Tinder. Mom like him a lot, but he went to another foster while Sophie is here. But we did get to have a Sheltie party with me, Tavish and Tinder.

Tavish was sick a while ago and it turns out he has congestive heart failure like me. Mom says she needs to take out stock in the company that makes the medicine lasix.

And NOW we have a sheltie puppy staying with us. Mom hasn't gotten him to stand still long enough for a picture. He is a "lethal white." That means both his parents were blue merles and that he is deaf and partially blind. Sure doesn't stop him though. He is 9 months old. Nicky thinks that he is his twin lost at birth. The two of them play non stop. My older human brother loves the two of them too. Mom keeps saying that my older human brother needs to take care of "his puppy." Man I hope that doesn't mean that Miles is staying. Can we trade him in for Tinder?

There was a cat that adopted us that Mom named Baboo. She sent him to the rescue to be neutured, but he didn't come back. He tested positive for FIV and has to stay with the rescue until they can find a foster home that takes in FIV positive cats. Mom was really sad about it. But I know that Schnitzel and Teddycat aren't sad at all. I think they are delighted.

Mom is worried about them being sick with FIV now. She moans about her vet bill because it is twice the size of her monthly mortgage. I guess it is a good thing that her vet is rescue friendly too. Mom says she needs to stop helping the older dogs, but I doubt she can stop that.

I hope everyone is doing well. I'll try and check in.

I'm alive...I'm here

For anyone who's noticed I've been offline for a bit. Mom didn't pay the internet bill...bahahahah. Well actually Mom tried to change carriers and it just took a while. But I'm back. Course it is summer, and I've been kinda lazy.

Okay, here is the news. Mom is adopting Tavish. Wookie is feeling loads better. We have a new foster named Sophie. She doesn't like cats though, so I haven't seen much of the kitties.

My human brother lost his front teeth.

And Mom found a cute picture of her and my little human brother at halloween. I did say we were boring didn't I? hmm maybe I should have?

There's a new foster in town...

Meet Tavish...

I like Tavish a lot, mostly because he is smaller than I am. He is a petite little 11 year old sheltie. His first night here he just ran around the house searching for him mom & dad. They went into assisted living, so Tavish came here. I kinda felt bad, but I knew my mom would make him feel better.

Tavish may be smalled but he tried to take on 60 lb Nicky. He is kinda like Nicky's mini me.

Nicky Meme

Hi gentlepups,

Nickolas is finally falling into order here at the house. Mom has diabused him of the idea that he is in charge. No more fighting. He thinks he is second in command. Ha, little does he know he has no command at all. But all in all things are good. I let him ride in my human brother's car seat in the car, he leaves me alone.

But tell me Key Collies, do you guys sing all the time. Cause Nicky sings constantly! And he has a high pitched shrill bark for mom, and a deep bark for strangers. And he sings every morning to wake up the human brothers. He is the official "wake up puppy."

And now...lets try and do this Book Meme again!

Here are the rules:
1. Pick up the nearest book.
2. Open to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Tag five people and post a comment to Mickey once you have posted it.

"We've all known dogs who were "a bit cautious" around visitors, or who were afraid of new places. This tendency to be cautious around unfamiliar things is as strongly influenced by genetics in dogs as it is in people. Studies done as early as 1944 supported the idea that the fear of strangers can be inherited in dogs."

- For the Love of a dog, Patricia McConnell

Sigh, I love her.

Well I think I will tag, Pippin, Wally, Boomer and Flossy...

I'm mad!!

I did a very long and wonderful entry a week ago and it never showed up in my blog!!! There were pictures of Shelby, witty observations and the Book MeMe that the Key Collies tagged me for. I guess I have to start all over.

Here is Shelby.

She is a Corgi-something. (Keep your tongue in your mouth Wally!!)

Shelby was with us for a month, but she was just adopted last sunday. I got to tag along.

We are expecting a new foster doggie from Michigan Sheltie Rescue. She is a senior lady whose Mom has to go into a nursing home. I'm a little excited about having someone of my own gentle breed to boss around.

Mama Hamster had eight more babies last week. They are REALLY tiring her out. But she is doing well. They will be going to Pet Supplies Plus in another week. Then Mama Hamster will have the cage to herself. Papa Hamster is starting to look like a sumo wrestler. I can't seem to get a good picture of the hammies. Probably because they are so small.

Nickey almost had to leave as he shredded Duncan's ear. But Mom has been "riding" his butt to keep him more in line. I tried to tell her that life would be so much easier if it was just me she had. But she seems to like having the pack.

More later

Comings and goings

Hello fellow furkids...it has been a while since I've had the energy to post. My mom has been extremely active in doggie rescue so we've had a ton of dogs come through since February. To keep you up to speed here we go...

Evie has not moved out. She is back home living full time. Seems that Karl threw her over for a Scottish Terriorist pup. Go figure.
Rocky and Irma came to stay for a bit. Rocky got extremely ill and Mom was afraid he was going to die. But he pulled through and got a great family of his own.

Irma the Squirma was trouble. I knew it the minute I saw her. Here is a partial list of things she destroyed.

Mom's cell phone antenna

Mom's stuffed Rabbit that she has slept with for 25 years and was given to her on the second date with the first man she ever loved.

Certain areas of the new carpet where she pulled out the fibers

The plants in the pots on the back deck.

Every stuffie in the house, plus several of the human brothers'

Doesn't she look like trouble?

Then Mom adopted another dwarf hamster for the human brothers. She got another male so there wouldn't be any hanky panky.

But something happened to the new male hamster. He became a MOTHER!! Yup, we had two baby hammies. They were adopted by the neighbor, and now we are going to have another batch. What can I say, Mom didn't know about the first two before the second batch of babies was already on the way. The daddy hammie now lives alone.

So, now we have another foster doggie, Shelby. She is a corgi (note to Wally, picture to come!)

Now for the really big news! I have a new brother, and man is he a moose. Meet Nickolas!

Well that is all the news for now. Haven't we been busy?

News...

I can't believe I'm telling you all this. Evie has decided to live with Miss Jenny and her boys (and the idiot dog Chloebelle). I knew she was smitten with the 11 yo boy, but geez.

WHY COULDN'T IT HAVE BEEN LILY????
And if that wasn't bad enough, Mom is talking about adopting a youngster for her "geriatric crowd."
Tell me, what did I ever do to her?

Mom's coming home tomorrow.

Thank goodness.

I know I didn't tell you what I've been plagued with while Mom was gone. Charley was more important than my complaints, but do you know that Mom left me, Evie and Lily at Miss Jenny's house? And did you know that Miss Jenny has a little terriorist (ie. scottish terriorist) named Chloebelle. Well I fixed her good, she won't even come near me. She wouldn't keep her nose out of my business so I peed on her face. Sure did. HA!

M-the-ever-V

PS thanks for all the lovely notes on Charley's passing. I know Mom will appreciate them. She is still having a hard time accepting that she wasn't there for him when he needed her. But I know he knew she loved him. Heck he got to sleep with his head on her pillow under the covers with her.

Farwell sweet Charley

Mom's in Florida, but she got some bad news and called Miss Jenny who I'm staying with. Charley had to cross the bridge today without her to hold him. But her friend Linda held him. He was a nice guy. He'll be missed.

Baby its cold outside...

Hello gentledogs,

I just wanted to give a little update. Right now I certain I am living in Hell's freezer. It was 2 degrees last Friday morning. 2! That is pretty cold for Michigan. AND we've had snow and snow and snow. We've had two major snow falls, then it melts and goes into Mom's basement. Then it snows again. It is hard for me to get my daily sun in, Mom doesn't let me sit outside for very long, even when I want to.

In addition to the cold, we've had a bunch of strange dogs traipsing through the house.

First there was Santana, this black lab/chow mix that came up to Mom when she was dropping the human brothers off at daycare. His owner came looking for him, knocking door to door until they found him.

Then Reggie came to stay. Reggie's foster mom was going to Hawaii, so Mom said she would wathch him. He was pretty nice, he treated me with respect, so he was fine.

Then Arrow showed up at the back fence. He was pretty obnoxious, but Mom fell in love with him. Like that doesn't happen every day! Anyway, Arrow went to Collie Rescue yesterday and Mom is feeling mopy. But since Duncan, Lily and Charley hated him and kept picking fights...well. Mom also said she couldn't afford another dog right now. So she is a bit weepy. Ah well, peace is restored to the house (well, Lily is still here).

We are looking forward to spring here.

Health, Happiness and Prosperity

Happy New Year Buddies...

I wanted to log on and tell you all what my New Year's Resolution is. I Maximillian the Valliant intend to spend more time biting Lily's butt in 2008. I figure it will be good for my manly figure.

My mom went totally goofy greeting the new year. She said it was some sort of funky sway kharma thingy. She put 27 dollar bills in her wallet and 49 coins, then sprinkled it with ginger. She ate fish (can't blame her there), she didn't talk about the past, just the future. She opened all the doors and windows at midnight to let the bad out and the good in. And (her personal favorite) she didn't do any cleaning today, or use any sharp knives. She says she wants all the good kharma and luck she can get for the new year.

Mom and I are back doing doggie transport. We are good at it, so we organize for one of our favorite rescues. They cover 5 states. I guess they needed help. Everyone is doing okay, but we've all had some extra meds. Wookie's back got all blistered and broke open. Mom and the vet said he had some kind of allergic reaction. The poor guy has to go to the vet for bandage changes, like EVERY WEEK!

Mom had to got to Lost Vegas in early December. She had our pet sitter stay here, she is kinda goofy. But Duncan had to stay at the vet because he doesn't like her. Wookie stayed there too because of his back. The pet sitter got in a fight with Lily because Lily took her chocolates. I had a touch of bronchitis too. Duncan beat up Charley one day and he almost had to have stitches. Mom was ticked off. Charley is so nice, I can't imagine why Duncan lit into him.

We had a big, black lab puppy named Max come and stay for a weekend a few weeks back. Boy Evie had a good time playing with him. Mom called him the "Big stupid puppy." But I know she really liked him. I think she just didn't want to confuse me. It is all about me afterall.

I think Evie was missing the big stupid puppy because she started to play tug with Duncan using my oldest human brothers brand new orange teddy bear. Ripped his head clean off. Mom did emergency surgery tonight while the little humans are at Nana's house.

Well, sorry I haven't been writting much. I hope to do better in the new year. I hope some of Mom's Funky Sway comes to all my friends out there too!

PS...I didn't have to dress up in antlers for christmas this year!! But I saw Bussie's picture - dressed as an elf. Bahahahahahaahahhahahahaha.
